The Years of Anniversaries and Big Moments…
2023 marks two large anniversaries for James Bond. The first, having been celebrated in April, belonged to the inception of James Bond and his first adventure. Ian Fleming’s debut 007 thriller ‘Casino Royale’ was published on April 13th, 1953. Here we are 70 years later from the birth of Bond and ‘Casino Royale’ and another 60th anniversary since the publication of ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.

A new Bond adventure for His Majesty…
Besides the Bond anniversaries, the United Kingdom will celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. Known for connecting to the real world, James Bond once again looks to save the day, this time the Coronation and his majesty himself, King Charles III.
James Bond will soon attempt to defeat a wealthy aristocrat in the latest novel, ‘On His Majesty’s Secret Service’. Set to release May 4th in the U.K., a familiar face has returned. From Young James Bond to now adult James Bond, an author connected to the roots of literary Bond returns for a crack at the modern Bond.
From Young Bond to Adult Bond…
With author Anthony Horowitz’s three-book run complete, the Ian Fleming Foundation looked to the familiar and multi-talented Charlie Higson. An actor, comedian, and author, Higson has spent plenty of time with James Bond. With five Young Bond novels under the belt, it was time for the talented author to take on adult James Bond. The latest book is ripe for our time and has a nod to a previous book. Bond’s new outing is appropriately titled ‘On His Majesty’s Secret Service’.

Can Bond dismantle his shady plans and defeat his privately hired team of mercenaries?
This all-new 007 adventure is produced to celebrate the Coronation and all royalties from the sale of the book will go to support the work of the UK charity, the National Literacy Trust.
James Bond Return…
In typical Bond fashion, the book coincides with the real-life Coronation of Charles III. Hopefully, real life doesn’t mirror the Bond universe and all goes according to plan. Fortunately, the fine folks of MI5 and MI6 will be there to keep the peace. The plan for the plot to align with the real world is another example of the close ties and impact that James Bond has on our culture.
‘On His Majesty’s Secret Service’ will release May 4th in the U.K. No word on the U.S. release date, check back for a future update.
