Ballerina Review & Ranking John Wick
Should Ballerina be your theater adventure? How does KB' rank the John Wick films?
Welcome back to KB’s Tactical Takes… this time about Ballerina and John Wick!
Ballerina Review
Despite a slower start, once Ballerina picks up the action doesn’t stop until the credits roll!
The worst part about Ballerina is the title name. I get keywords to connect the audience or for online marketing is important, but ‘From the World of John Wick: Ballerina’ is a mouthful and to me, it is ‘Ballerina’ starring Ana de Armas. Truly, a subtitle would have been the best option, but I digress.
If you are unfamiliar with Ana de Armas, then you live under a rock. A meteoric rise, Ana has positioned herself into a solid career. From Blade Runner 2049 to Knives Out to the world of James Bond in 2021’s No Time To Die, Ana has transcended and found herself a killer (literally) leading role as Eve Macarro in Ballerina.
Directed by Len Wiseman, written by Shay Hatton and Derek Kolstad, the story of Ballerina finds its footing in the John Wick timeline between Chapter 3 and Chapter 4.
Eve Macarro, a daughter of two assassins, finds herself alone after the death of her father. Taken in by Winston… oh yes, good ol’Winston!… Eve soon finds herself in a new home. She becomes a ballerina trained assassin by the Ruska Roma. Now a formable fighter and killing force, Eve soon finds herself immersed in the world of assassins calling upon her skillset and taking the fight to her enemies. Eve plunges her efforts into discovering the past to her father’s death and the cult involved.
The ensuing battle is surely not one to miss. Another big action film prime and prepped for the big screen!
We see the return of Ian McShane as Winston, Anjelica Huston as The Director, and the late great Lance Reddick as Charon in his final film role. Norman Reedus, Gabriel Byrne, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster join the cast. Oh and yes your eyes did not deceive you in the trailer… Keanu Reeves returns as the Baba Yaga himself, John Wick.
The spectacle and intensity of the action fits right at home with the other John Wick films! Ana de Armas explodes like a grenade on screen and easily proves she has the will to stand the test and hold her ground next to Wick.

Note to Readers… please keep in mind, Ballerina is fantastic but I need a few more viewing to know where I’d rank it compared to the other Wick outings.
